Hamlet is our first Basenji, coming to rule
the Nix household on April 29, 1995. We got him from Cecilia Wozniak ~
Land of Woz ~ in Indiana. We specifically bought Hamlet as a "pet
quality" Basenji, meaning we had no interest in showing or breeding
him. Somewhere along the way, however, other Basenji owners convinced me
to try showing him so I gave it a brief, sad little try. We were only in
the ring 8 or 9 times and Hamlet never caught any judge's eye. This was
quite a shock to me as I believed, and still do, that he is the most handsome
Basenji boy I have ever seen! Loot at hose eyes! And that deep red
coat! Ah, well...it doesn't matter anyhow because Hamlet quickly set me
straight and told me where his heart truly belongs...ON THE COURSING
FIELD!! Hamlet loves ice cream, belly-rubs and adventures at the forest
preserve but most of all, Hamlet LOVES to "get the bunny!" He
earned his LCM 2 on April 21, 2002 at the Midwest Borzoi trial in Indiana!
Hamlet is currently working on his LCM 3.
